This course provides information on the maternal health crisis in the US and efforts to improve outcomes using doulas. Health educators can boost their knowledge on maternal health issues and the role of community-based doulas. While being a health educator and a doula are different, aspects of doula work such as childbirth education and lactation support overlap with functions of a health educator and serves as ways for the health educator to expand their scope of practice.

This course is approved by NCHEC for 1.5 Category 1 CECH credits for CHES.
